Don't tell us accreditation in Mayberry is one of those mysteries like the Devil's triangle, Area 51 or witchcraft. Why doesn't’ the CM or CC address the lack of police patrols and the obsession with special projects instead of protecting the public? We want an answer. Will the management agree to spend the night in a typical Mayberry neighborhood with the drunks, drug addicts, predators, criminals wandering around?

Folks see the attitude you speak of in certain supervisory-mid level mgrs as well, and it rubs off on a few workforce pee-ons too.
The arrogant ones really do think "They own the joint" I know dozens of good people that have worked there..(they all quit, got fired, retired) The toxic apples hang in forever simply out of greed. The worst ones have a plan based on staying in lil' ole Mayberry as long as they possibly can. Perhaps changing the ridiculous titles (not intended for such a tiny burg) to brownnose #1, brownnose#2, etc would reduce the inflated egos & attitudes, but I doubt it. Mayberry is broken and toxic.

What are the demographics of the CRA grant recipients over the past 5 years?
What is their race? What is their socio/economic status? Where within the CRA district are the structures located that were renovated/repaired/improved with the CRA grant money? Is the distribution of the grant money reflective of the ethnic make-up of the CRA community at large? Why not CRA grant money to assist with creating or incubating minority (not just women) businesses in the community (aka economic development)? Why not focus on city infrastructure rather than just increasing the spendable income of upper middle-class white folks on Canal, Flagler and 3rd Ave.? Are the HUB folks and the prospective tenants poor white starving artists or members of the elite NSB crowd who only dine at Spanish River Grill and the Thai Mango? Does anyone want to know the answers to these questions?

Name: Commission Meeting tonight
What do you think will happen when the HUB comes up for vote tonight at the commission meeting. Oh, yah, that's right. The CRA never voted on it to approve or not, but the commission or probably our overpaid city manager decided what the heck let's just put it on the agenda, vote on it, give Sally her hush money but no problem this will all be contingent on it going back to the the CRA and they approve it. But, wait, even if the CRA decided not to approve it, it won't matter because the commission has the final say. And who cares that Mr. Peterson voted on the revised Rental Assistance Program, which according to the agenda really was revised just so the HUB people could apply for it and more money. Mr. Peterson, isn't that again a conflict of interest as you are still listed in the HUB stuff within the agenda as legal attorney. Please we already know Mr. Hathaway cannot vote tonight as he is listed in the HUB stuff as something too. So, let's all either attend or at least listen in and see what our silver tongued mayor has to say about all of this.

Even though Boob laundered his fees through his paper, he was lobbying.
Interesting that Swentor-Tart are listed as creditors wanting their money back. Hmmm, why do they want their money back?

Car show doesn't draw thousands any more than Images draws 10's of thousands. To be fair the people who live within ten or 20 miles should not be counted at all. They either do "business" on Canal or not.
Since most of the stores close during car show it is a safe bet to say they do not do business.
All the crap funded by CRA, SVAA and Shamber just enriches or rewards a few insiders. If any of this stuff was a commerce builder the hosts would fund the event. Instead we have welfare for business at the expense of everyone else.
If you choose not to shop on Canal because they have high prices and low choices you still get charged.
Flagler is even worse because they steal tourism money for the bars.
City commissioners are self serving, greedy pigs or ignorant dolts.

If that’s the CRA mission statement then all that happened is we 'granted' lots of money to people who don't know how to run a 'for profit' business - we give money to people with no business sense and they fail despite the 'gift' from us taxpayers. ROFL it is fun to watch the gubment guys getting those 'automatic' piles of money, COLAs, etc., thinking we don't get it. they have scammed us for so long with these fancy little names for the grifting, no one could keep up - the taxPAYER was busy WORKING, ROFLROFL now they aren't--- at about a half million a week for a long, long time. But the gravy train grifters don't see a problem, they have a PIECE OF PAPER that says we will pay them whatever they made a law and said we would. Look around, there are probably 100 houses here over 600,000 for sale. they are the last guys out with the money. hard choices will have to be made with the little pot of money left - new people will move in but pay half the prices and that means half the taxes - and the current workers and municipal bond guys (wall street) and state and county get fed first - with less money (and they are all 'stepping' UP ON US TOO IN PRICE)
take a good drive around and look at the for sale signs or empty houses. those step raises and colas and drops and all those fancy names for taking MONEY FROM THE TAXPAYER won't matter, now we know they are just raises - DICTATED - something none of us can do as taxpayers - just bend over -
like many cities our size we have been reading about nationwide just going bankrupt and ripping up those pieces of paper in the poor employee's face but but we are sure it won't happen here so we continue to waste what money we have on SVAA, CRA and all the other 'rights of public union' guys as the 'for sale' signs multiply like rabbits

Thank the good lord for the insiders, they tell us of more plots that mostly benefit overpaids that want even more. Next up for investigation should be the Volusia county school board. Not the hardworking teachers, or poverty level support staff. The under qualified managers, and unneeded deputy superintendents (the last one was hired from out of county, a buddy from her old stomping grounds...guess there was no one in county who qualified). Stop wasting my tax dollars on "figureheads" when we need people in the trenches. Follow Dr. Smith each evening as she drags around her decrepit husband, mooching free dinners, at public events. This despite the fact that she makes more money than the governor, when you count in benefits, car stipend (can't give her a county car, she crashed 3 of them...just give her an extra $650.00 a month), maybe she should drive a $2000.00 clunker like most of the parents in Volusia County have to drive. Maybe part of her salary should go to more school buses so kids in Kindergarten who live within 2 miles of a school can ride, and not get hit by cars.

"Perhaps the problem is that too much was expected with too little guidance, training and oversight. These people work in the small business private sector and, unless they had prior experience at a fairly high level in Florida government during their working lifetimes, would not likely know about the complexities of serving on a pubic board and managing public funds without training and direction. "
I gues that translates none of them know how to run a business. O rmaybe she meant "know how to run a business when you have to account for the money"
Come on Ellen, you are supposed to be a Realtor and therefore should know something about running a business. Each of these appointees, on their applications, claimed they were sucessful businesspersons. In fact, Richford is on the Chamber Board of Directors. So what does that say for the Chamber and the rest of the "business persons" here in NSB?

Need to get your math right regarding the Balloon Fest parking info, Shadow. $18,000 in parking fees divided by $5 per car equals 3,600 cars TIMES 2 people per car equals 7,200 people attending the event, not 2,000 as you stated. If you are going to condemn the event, at least do your math correctly.

Consensus was that a police administrator, not an officer, is more cost effective. Discussed also was a retired officer that has volunteered twice, along with several other retires, that would be willing to help out and run the program. I can not believe in today’s economy why this wouldn't work. No new ideas, no creative thinking. One wonders what tax payers are getting for the high paid salaries of directors, city assistant manager and manager? Do you suppose our elected officials are as short sighted as well?

Dog Hodson came from Orlando - thanks to you. Thank you Oville , small fish to small pond where he thought he could be a big fish. Kosmas' family, there all over the place so who knows where there from. Steve D 's daddy kept him in jobs. Chaz B (not bono) daddy got him a job plus an Angler who helps docs, and lawyers and mechanics steal money from gubment and write off plastic surgery and seawalls; ppoor CB needs to be told a driveway is for stuff with a steering wheel. Come back this weekend fellow travellers. We have great restaurants who serve cold food hot and bugs in the salad. But that's okay. You have the big bucks so you don't care. Lucky you.

NSB Inbreds and their community of fiscal incest and irresponsibility.
For example: Boy Mayor Adam routinely waits until his micro phallic $700 tax bill becomes delinquent or is sold as a tax certificate before he calls his mommy to pay it; drives his uncles truck; uses City property, labor and NSBHS student labor with friend
Danny to sell memberships in his unregistered ( Div Corp - No, MQA - No, Dept of Ag - No, DPR - No, City of NSB - No, Volusia County - No, Volusia County Health Dept - No...)
Just another unregistred unqualified fale educated grifter inbred!

Who?
Who shops at Heaths? Not the local rabble with average income in the mid $30K range. The O-villers buy the triple priced "organic foods" (scam).
Who eats at the Garlic. The O-villers - we see the TV news talking heads there all the time...
O-villers spike the drinks of local single gals/moms at the OM...while NSB PD and the Bert Fish look the other way...
Heck, its Smyrnaville!
Even the NSB Mayor has ran to Maitland for greener pastures!

Warrants re-posting with an additive or two:
"Chamber of Shame run by the Sock Puppet who steals taxpayer money for [Chamber, a private corporation] [as a sole source tax $$ funded reward for] backing the [stupid - see Carni's quotes] corrupt [we know this unequivocally - now] SVAA board members, all the while running Edgewater Expo, Inc. [a private corporation] [like Chamber has a sole source unqualified contract with City of Edgewater] through a front lawyer's .] so we can't find what else they are ripping us off."
Check the address and you will find it is the (dual purpose site of) (Chamber employee) Sock Puppet's (Chamber-Edgewater Expo - both PRIVATE CORPs) office in Edgewater Leisure (because that's where Dir. Jack sleeps) (NO) Services ( just look shabby Menard Park);
another (more) free rent dea(s) at taxpayer expense for her and Lott's (the usual suspects) next scam.

Are you kidding me?
You have got to be kidding SHADOW....NO investigations? No FDLE? No Sheriff investigations?
If no "outside" investigation of SVAA and CRA...NSB is in BIG trouble. No, BIGGER trouble.
COUNTY government is proving to be worse than NSB government!

future employment??
From the August Obssserverrr about the "groundbreaking" for the hotel on Flagler.
We are going to do everything in our power,” said new Southeast Volusia Advertising Authority Director Nicole Carni, “to insure the success of this great economic engine. The world will definitely know – that we have a world-class facility here in New Smyrna Beach.” With a laugh she added. “We’ve got people ready to answer the phone and take reservations for a year from now!”
Jokes on her OR maybe she already had a new job lined up!!!!
At least she has an "in" with the hotel backers so maybe they can help her get one of those high paying jobs answering the phones!!

Hey you
NJ editor mentions SVAA but what about the CRA...where's the justice in reporting. Carni didnt act alone because she had to have had someone cover her to complete her criminal actions (hint: small pond guy and his cronies). T he leaders and those in charge of money can't be that stoooopid. Can they?
Never mind.

Merk's new granite bathrooms built with CRA funds and she brags about it. Chaz paints and plants. He is a financial planner. I would think he sniffed out the deeds of the Doghog, Carnival and others. Maybe he's just stupid lucky. Still, he has too much stuff in his yard unless he's running a car lot in Venezia. We don't want to look at your toys taking prospective buyers to your neighborhood.
